In this video I set up a small HYW battle to Play-Test ''Test of Resolve'' HYW rules. I was impressed with the way the rules work together how well the HYW warfare is depicted and in the same time how easy was to remember the specific mechanics. The rules are very solo friendly and the cards give a fill of unpredictability without compromising in Historical Accuracy. I thoroughly enjoyed the game

RULES MISTAKES & OMISSIONS :
Couple of rule points you might want to reflect on before your next game.

A Battle Morale Test is only taken if there is a further loss of Resolve Points after the Battle hits 0 BMPs. So technically the French didn’t need to test immediately they lost their Commander but that would only have delayed the inevitable probably.

A Company will often have to fight multiple rounds of melee on the same Move & Melee card, see Melee Outcomes paragraph, unless the difference in dice rolled is 0-1 for an Ongoing Melee result. So there should have been an immediate second round of combat in both melees. This could only be avoided if a losing company successfully Turned Tail and retreated breaking contact: impossible for units engaged in a Headlong Charge as here. In this case that second round of melee would have preceded the English drawing the St George’s card.

The game did not actually finish completely as I still had the second French company in full strength but we assumed that the lesser troops seeing their MAA Flying fled as well.

Also on 22:53 minute when the French drew a Move & Melee card I forgot to move the second Battle..;). This may have changed things a bit but as I said it was my first Test Game and I think I managed to showcase you the philosophy and the main mechanics behind the rules

About the Game
Test of Resolve requires only one twelve-sided die (D12) per side – and your figures! The game plays out with a small deck of cards representing the opposing factions. These cards are designed to introduce an innovative, realistic and exciting unpredictability to the game flow — and remind the players that commanders had little control of events when the fighting started!

The historical scenarios are typically completed in 1 to 2 hours, and all are designed to be played on a 180 x 120cm (6’ x 4’) table with figures of any scale.
