The tool is WIP and right now only allows to load a single batch, edit landscape and materials and load it into the game. While that does not sound like much, since you can't place any objects, it is THE FIRST BEST HOPE for a tool to make your own maps in Subnautica. Since I was dreaming of the game many times with some cool level design ideas, I tried this tool to test how things work. This is what I ended up with.
This VERY LAGGY video (sorry for that) shows a molten lava cave system between Dunes and Void. I placed some stuff ingame before the recording, like rockgrubs and a reaper, to add some charme. It is supposed to give you an idea of what this tool is already capable of doing. Subnautica uses materials with individual properties. Some are bioluminiscient, so they glow in the dark (lava, shrooms, crystals), some spawn little props (corals, grass, shrooms) and some work very well (or horrifyingly) in small dark caves.
