It’s 2025, and I just picked up my very first original SEGA Master System — not the budget Master System 2, but the OG Power Base! Why now? Well, after years of covering SEGA’s biggest and best games, it was time to plug into 8-bit history.

In this video, I unbox the system, test it through the OSSC, run games from the EverDrive-style cart, and share my first impressions of SEGA’s earliest home hardware.

From Sonic to Shinobi, let’s see what the Master System still has to offer in the modern age — and whether it’s worth diving in if you’ve never owned one before.
