You will not believe what happens in Punch Club 2 because I know for a fact that I did not expect any of the events in this game to occur. The first Punch Club was a fighter management simulator and now, flashed forward many years into the future, the sequel expands upon the first game’s mechanics and story by fleshing out the setting of the world.

Reading the official game description states: You’ve come here to read game descriptions and play fighter management sims… and you’re all outta descriptions!

Or, that’s what it used to say. At least up until last week-ish.

Now, there’s a new description due to Lazy Bear’s upcoming game, Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story.

It reads: Train, fight, and rise to the top in this knockout sequel to the smashing fighter management simulator! Mentor your fighter and guide him to become the ultimate champion: choose from different combat styles, control his routine, and watch him kick some butt like a proud sensei!

And that is a much better description.

If you like the idea of a pseudo-cyberpunk time management grind game, then Punch Club 2 is for you. Go check it out in order to support Lazy Bear Games. If you want a better tldr, I go over some steam reviews in a section near the end, so click on that chapter if you are interested. Of course, because I am commentating on them after playing the game, they will contain some minor spoilers.

I covered the first game last week, or at least last week from when I first wrote this short intro, and I would highly encourage you to watch it first in order to understand the evolution from game to game. I would also recommend for you to play Punch Club and Punch Club 2 first because my coverage will spoil the game’s mechanics but more importantly, the main narrative.

I would also like to shoutout shaderglass for the ability to use retroarchs crt filter’s externally. These high-quality filters enhance the game’s already excellent pixel art aesthetic and turn it up a notch.
