This scene was particularly fun to work on and presented its own set of challenges. Taking the material and character seriously and making his seemingly ludicrous demands appear completely sane and justified posed an immediate challenge.

Again, I approached the text with two tools. Finding my objective and creating a psychological gesture for the character. These two tools are the perfect foundation for the rest of the work that followed.

Each take had its moments of sheer joy and creative comedy but this one truly conjured all of that and the distinct objective I was playing at. I had so much fun trying my hand at a more comedic piece and taking everything my character was doing and saying truthfully and seriously.

Each time I work on a new project, it ends up giving me new things to work on and help advance my ability to self-critic, something I identified last quarter as needing refinement here and there.

The use of an accent here also played a role in the final performance and I wanted to be able to tread the line of absurdity and respect to the original text.

I’m so proud of this piece and I hope you all enjoy it.
