Of Course, that’s your Contention Monologue from Good Will Hunting. Performed by Sam John

This scene took its toll on me in terms of how to play a fully realized character. There are so many complexities and layers to Will Hunting. At the end of all the tales I ended up putting in, one thing became clear to me. No matter how many thoughts I have going on in my head about the performance unless I focused on a singular playable objective, success would continue to elude me.
I gave myself a clear objective but felt the layers I had given my version of the character begin to cascade around me as I started rolling. Each take felt like it came short till I let go of the editor in my head and released to the psychological gesture I had assigned to the character.
After I solidified the foundation, the rest came easy. Another element to this piece was the other performance which y’all will see soon that I had made prior to it. The emotional toll of that scene made me feel drained and only when I gave myself space to breathe and regroup, that I could put out a solid performance that I was proud of.
I hope you all enjoy this piece!
The incredible tools and techniques I’ve been taught here @scaddotedu by the phenomenal Performing Arts department enable me to be the best creative version of myself I can be.
So incredibly thankful and blessed.
10 down, 6 to go y’all ♥️
