If you see an abandoned LG TV or monitor, very frequently people throw it out because they lost the external power supply, which can cost up to 50% of the TV/monitor's value... so they just buy a new product and junk the old one.
People in the know can buy a universal power supply (for laptops) for about 10USD and a remote for 4USD ... and it's completely usable again ...
if needed, backlight fix should be less than 20USD, logic board replacement maybe like 50USD (there's only one board usually, instead of the 3-4 in most other TVs)
