I Tried Siege Beyond and It Was NOT Fun! - Paladins PTS Gameplay
0Welcome back to another Paladins video! In this one we take a look at the new game mode coming in Season 5: Siege Beyond! Siege:Beyond is a new variant of siege which has most of the exact same mechanics as siege, but with an experimental twist that'll change every few updates! This first experimental change is a spicy one: completely revamping the item shop!
This new item shop features some brand-new items and some returning ones from the previous item store. Instead of choosing 4 of 16 items and upgrading them to enhance your power, this item store has you choose between 1 of 3 items. Once you've chosen, 3 new items appear on screen to replace the old ones, and you choose 1 of those 3 items.
In my opinion, this new system is not fun and is worse than the old system. This system allows for much less counter play, since you may not need any of the items that are presented to you and are dependent on luck to get the items you need. This system also takes more time than the previous system to choose items, since even once you memorize what the items do, they're still presented in a random order so you have to read what each item does every time you want to make a purchase, instead of knowing exactly where they are on a grid every time. Or, if I'm wrong and it's not random, you still might be stuck waiting for several cycles of items to get the item you really need.
Overall, I'm not a fan.
