I Tried to Create a New Magic: The Gathering Cycle For an Old Set (Ice Age) - Here's What Happened
In this video, I have a chat with the Bing Chat Bot, a new chat mode of Microsoft Bing search that uses GPT-4, a powerful artificial intelligence system. I try to get it to create a new Magic: The Gathering Cycle for the old set, Ice Age. The results were rather interesting as you can see, I then reflect on what it might be doing and then create some artwork.
Here is Bing Chat's summary of the cycle of cards it created.
- Snow Shovel: An artifact that costs 3 and has " , , Sacrifice Snow Shovel: Destroy target snow land."
- Snow Plow: An artifact that costs 3 and has " , , Sacrifice Snow Plow: Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature you control. Activate only if you control a snow land."
- Snow Maker: An artifact that costs 3 and has " , , Sacrifice Snow Maker: Create a snow token. (It’s a land with " : Add .")"
- Snow Angel: An artifact creature that costs 3 and has flying and " , , Sacrifice Snow Angel: Return target snow permanent card from your graveyard to your hand. Activate only if you control a snow land." It has power and toughness 3/3.
- Snow Fort: An artifact that costs 3 and has " , , Sacrifice Snow Fort: Prevent all damage that would be dealt to you this turn. Activate only if you control a snow land."
Here is Bing Chat's suggestions for possible colours that each artifact might be associated with based on the type of ability it had. Note: there was no specific colour atributed through activation costs as they all were activated by sacrificing the artifact.
- Snow Shovel: This card could be associated with red or black, since they are the colors that can destroy lands the most. It could also be associated with white, since it can remove snow lands that might benefit the opponent.
- Snow Plow: This card could be associated with green or white, since they are the colors that can put +1/+1 counters on creatures the most. It could also be associated with red, since it can represent a burst of power and aggression.
- Snow Maker: This card could be associated with blue or green, since they are the colors that can create lands the most. It could also be associated with white, since it can create snow lands that might benefit you or your allies.
- Snow Angel: This card could be associated with white or blue, since they are the colors that can return cards from the graveyard to the hand the most. It could also be associated with black, since it can return snow permanents that might have a dark or sinister flavor.
- Snow Fort: This card could be associated with white or blue, since they are the colors that can prevent damage or gain hexproof the most. It could also be associated with green, since it can represent a natural defense or resilience.
