During the "Coin King #4" SMB35 Special Battle (Feb 12-14, 2021) that had all levels available in the same structure as the original Super Mario Bros., I wanted to see how quickly I could beat all levels in sequence, and thus unlock Luigi, from a fresh file in Super Mario Bros. 35. I didn't end up getting a successful two-match run in time (turns out getting a room of randoms to co-operate and not die enough to get straight through to 6-4 is quite challenging and not entirely in one's own control), but I did finish a three-match run with no repeated levels (outside of the necessary warp zones) in just under 22 minutes, unlocking Luigi at a mere level 7. Perhaps if this event comes back in the future I can try for a two-match run again! Will probably leave the warpless runs to the JP lobbies, though.
