I Was Wrong About Battlefield 6’s Unlocked Class System…
I’ll be honest—I wasn’t sold on Battlefield 6’s unlocked class system at first. As a fan of the classic class setups from Bad Company 2 and beyond, the idea of every class being able to use any weapon just felt… wrong.
But after trying it out, especially with the beta offering both locked and unlocked playlists, I’ve changed my mind.
In this video, I break down why the unlocked system actually works surprisingly well in practice, how each class still has strong identity and utility through gadgets, and why this new approach might end up being better for gameplay overall. From gadget loadouts to map-specific weapon choices, there’s more depth here than I expected.
Let me know what you think—will you be running locked or unlocked classes when the beta goes live on Thursday?
