This is a popular geothermal hot spring called Deildartunguhver which we saw on the amazing Essential Iceland jeep tour put on by Iceland Rovers. In addition to being a popular viewing spot, it also feeds into a pumping station that provides 100% renewable heating for all the homes and businesses of two neighbouring towns. It smelled like rotten eggs due to all the sulphur in the water and it was obviously very warm and damp around the area but it was an amazing sight, especially so up close.
