If Bob Knodel's RLG Experiment Had Found No Drift, Would That Have Proven Earth is Stationary?
Bob the Science Guy made a video about star trails, arrogance, and ignorance, and I thought I'd add some extra thoughts about the logic in trying to show the Earth is stationary by using a gyroscope.
First, we'll start by steelmanning Bob Knodel's original experiment - that he was testing axial rotation rather than generally being stationary - and then ask what it would mean to demonstrate Earth was stationary with an RLG as a wider context of the discussion.
But before I do that, I have a clarification I need to make on the video where I previously peer reviewed Bob the Science Guy.
