Lesson: This is why Dead or Alive is not a fun game to play competitively at high level. Throws and Strike combos virtually deal the same amount of damage. There is no way to make an educated guess regarding the actions of your opponent if both offensive options are equally powerful.
If I'm being honest, I don't believe throws should deal extra damage against critical holds. They do enough already. How can you tell someone they aren't allowed to defend themselves? Maybe add a critical burst punish strike to punish holds with a fatal stun. But other than that, don't be so unforgiving to the players. We have to guess 4 directions. Chill.
And to top it off, once you're stunned, you will most likely be put into a 3-6 second juggle situation by all launchers and by characters who have launching throws.
There is a way to make a fun rock-paper-scissors fighting game. And there is a wrong way to make a rock-paper-scissors triangle system fighting game. DOA5 and 6 are the WRONG way--especially with the bouncy walls on all sides of the environments.
