World of Warships is a naval action MMO, dipping into the world of large-scale sea battles of the first half of the twentieth century. Epic battles rage across the oceans of the world in order to claim victory among teams comprised of the greatest representatives from the era of multi-ton marine giants.
In order to achieve victory in battle, players must employ a wide range of strategies in a variety of tactical decisions. Sudden ambushes, cunning flanking attacks, open confrontation and "head-on" assaults — captains must strive to find an ideal way to deliver a decisive blow at the enemy.

Tactical diversity in World of Warships comes from the inclusion of many different classes of warships, including: aircraft carriers, capable of providing remote air support and striking targets at extreme range; colossal battleships that project power across vast swaths of ocean; light and heavy cruisers with the capability to quickly respond to changing battlefield conditions; and stealthy, agile destroyers which can be highly effective in group attacks.

Sharing the name with one of König’s sister ships, Großer Kurfürst (translation: "Great Elector", from the title of Frederick William, Elector of Brandenburg) sits atop the German battleship line at Tier X. She lived up to her name when released, breaking the then long-standing stalemate of Yamato and Montana by simply entering into the fray. Subtlety is not Großer Kurfürst’s forte because she is detected from 18.1km.

Due to her size she possesses an effective array of secondaries along with two pairs of guns — the same caliber as her predecessor Friedrich der Große — but with triple mounts with the same AB-XY configuration. Even Montana, which shares the same triple mount turret style and layout, will respect her for her heavy broadside, while the responsive turret traverse — among the quickest turret traverse speeds of Tier X battleships — can be made even faster with upgrades. Even more, she can surpass the American battleship through barrel diameter, with her last gun upgrade being 420mm barrels still mounted in four triple turrets while still retaining the excellent traverse speed.

Großer Kurfürst's bustling secondary batteries are one of the most powerful in the game. The large number of secondaries can easily blow destroyers out of the water. With upgrades and commander skills, Großer Kurfürst’s secondaries can have a range of a whopping 11.6km, and with the Manual Fire Control for Secondary Armament commander skill, a dispersion almost equivalent to that of her main batteries. As soon as enemy ships get into the range of Kurfürst’s secondaries, they can expect to take thousands of damage within seconds. This results in enemy battleships with better performance at long range such as Conqueror and Yamato being more effective against Kurfürst than ships with poorer main battery dispersion such as Kremlin.
