IFA2006: Toshiba SED
I managed to get my camera in to the top secret SED screen demonstration area. Where all competing engineers are detected by agents and are not allowed in, where there are agents looking for anyone filming the screen during the show. The screen does look nice but even to my eye it kind of seems to flicker a little bit (maybe not more than a normal CRT screen). I wonder if they can fix up the refresh rate little bit before they begin mass production. So this is a competing large screen Full HD screen technology. Competes with Plasma, LCD, DLP and JVC’s HD-ILA. In this video I also get to interview one of the marketing responsible from Toshiba in their top secret dark demonstration room. According the representative, it will ship in 50″ full HD version in Q4 2007.
