Summoner has been drastically altered so that it's now a burst class as opposed to a dot class, they did this by preventing aetherflow from being easily accessible at any given time. the cooldown is extended, the dots were combined and now have 5 less potency, shadowflare is now a one-time cooldown cast that requires a lot of waiting, so you need to carefully consider its placement, and all in all summoner is now more about planning ahead than ever before.

considering it stems from arcanist, the posterboy planning ahead class, this means summoner is now defined by its role them as opposed to merely being influenced by it.

suffice it to say that summoner requires a buttload of careful management, one misstep is punishing, so knowing the fight is ideal, also, titan doesn't aggro for shit.

now the really bad part here is that sustain is gone, you can't cast it anymore. what do we have if not sustain? physick, we can now heal our summons, but this is a worse option because the heals do literally nothing.

anywho, this is me testing summoner by soloing ifrit hard mode, it's not a big deal, it is, however, painful to watch me getting used to the new changes.

fortunately summoner's overall damage output hasn't changed too much, a -5 potency decrease doesn't even feel like it's present, strangely, dots feel buffed, which may well just be a side-effect of the bio spell being consolidated into bio ii as part of a magic spell line.

all in all, summoner isn't really a bad option at all, it's just drastically different, so dot management isn't nearly as intensive.

just plan ahead and the class will reward the fuck out of you, but fuck one thing up and your dps will suffer greatly for your sins.

in the words of barret from machinimabridged "don't fuck up!!"
