One of the most brutal streaming challenges I've ever done in my streaming career from 2014.
As somebody who has only 1CC (1 Coin Clear aka no continues) experience in Touhou games on Normal, playing classic arcade shmup was a different level of pain.
It took me almost 2 weeks of streams to beat it. Without looking at YouTube for pro guides from people who developed perfect full chain combo strats for entire levels.
This was probably my biggest mistake, trying to learn the hard way every single stage and how to maximize chains. I managed to get a decent strat for Stage 1 and 2 for not breaking chains, and even somewhat for Stage 4, but Stage 3 is where I gave up, too much pressure on 1CC run + not dying + having chains done in Stage 1/2.
And speaking of mistakes, only oldschool viewers remember this, but this challenge also was a very poor business decision for my channel growth and I lost huge momentum/hype.
Before Ikaruga, I was streaming XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Spelunky with concurrent viewership of 2k or so. After I switched to Ikaruga, it dropped to 100-200, and the more I pursued the 1CC, the less people were interested which I totally understand. Tryharding shmups is a very niche thing and heck, Touhou Danmaku isn't better either because of epileptic effects that a lot of people cannot handle.
So yeah, as you can see from this and many other things, I am pretty stubborn. Iron-willed. And it's the reason why I managed to do so many crazy things in my career (XCOM I/I Long War, FTL Hard All Ships No Pause, I wanna be the Boshy etc) and made a name for myself.

This 1CC was my personal best and when I reached True Ending, I was so excited, I choked away half of my lives for nothing (you can see that I reverse color'd myself and lost rhythm), thankfully I recovered before it was too late.

Well, here you go. A brutal piece of my history, for which I am very proud and happy, while at the same time, I also regret doing it since I probably lost a huge amount of money and growth of my brand.
