Testing the aircraft fuel fire damage modeling in IL2 Great Battles 4.703. Currently fires seem to be very easy to put out. In a total of seven tests in which the aircraft caught fire, I was able to put out the fire seven times by side slipping for a few seconds. This means 100% of the time, the fire can be put out in a sideslip. This doesn't seem to be realistic behavior, as if fires were so easy to put out, why would aircrew bother bailing out or ejecting? It seems to me that there would be more penalties for aircrew that abandon the aircraft in the event of a fire if this were the case in real life.
