Imagine wanting to charge your phone and not being able to because someone managed to run DOOM on...
Imagine getting home from work, trying to charge your phone, only to find that someone managed to run DOOM on your phone charger ⚡🎮. Yes, not on a retro PC or a handheld console, but on an Anker Prime charging station, and the craziest thing is that it looks semi-playable. Creator Aaron Christophel showed on YouTube how he tricked the 8MB RAM charging dock into running the 1993 classic, back when battle stations back then had barely 2MB of RAM. Using an ARM microcontroller and the charger’s tiny screen, he got DOOM to run surprisingly smoothly with almost all textures and colors intact. The controls? A simple dial that shoots, opens doors, and moves you around at the same time, making searching for secrets basically impossible 😂🔫🚪. And while this sounds absurd, it's not the first time the community has outdone itself: DOOM has already run on a Lego brick, on 100 pounds of potatoes, on an orbiting satellite, and even inside DOOM itself. The difference is that this invention is so stable that it almost makes you want to use the charger as a portable console. With this, Christophel has already earned a place in the Olympus of gaming's great wizards. 🚀
