The candidate of the Labour Party in the recently concluded Imo state Governorship election, Senator Athan Achonu has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the intrigues surrounding the refusal of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to allow his lawyers inspect election materials.

Senator Achonu at a news conference in Abuja expressed reservation over the development especially as a competent court of jurisdiction had ordered INEC to do the needful.

He said the president intervention will help rewrite the wrongs that characterised the process and restore investors confidence in the Nigerian project.

Senator Achonu further gave a detailed analysis of what played at during the poll especially as it relates to alleged collation of results at the state level, saying it is a clear departure of the assurances by the INEC Chairman.

The Governorship candidate who vowed to take his case to the election petitions tribunal, restated confidence in the integrity of the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.
