In what could be described as repeated demands for the release of results of the Imo State gubernatorial election, members of the Labour Party staged a protest at the headquarters of the  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Recall, the Imo State chapter of the party besieged the premises of the state INEC office,3 days ago demanding for the certified true copies of the results of the Governorship election.

The protest led by the party's Governorship candidate,Senator Athan Achonu, had members of the party brandishing various placards with inscriptions to justify their demands.

Addressing journalists at the INEC premises, Sen. Achonu expressed reservation over the results of the recently held state Governorship election declared by the electoral body, saying it does not represent the will of the people.

Responding on behalf of INEC, National Commissioner, Mohammed Haruna assured that the matter will be addressed.

Other takeaways from the interaction indicates that a team from INEC will meet representatives of the party to further deliberate on the matter.
