Its fashionable now to poop on the Black Keys, but they were a very successful retro garage/blues rock band with some big mainstream hits with their albums Brothers and El Camino (my personal fave). Turn Blue took a while to come out, though, and by the time it did we were all getting a little sick of the Keys. In this video I talk about why I think Turn Blue is an overlooked album, and maybe even their greatest creative work because of the themes pulled from Dan Auerbach's real life. Or do I? It's been so long since I recorded this, so who knows? Songs include powerful stories like Weight of Love and In Our Prime, as well as radio hits like Fever and Gotta Get Away.
