This marks India's first participation in the prestigious OXY tournament, which is designed exclusively for students. With 38 national teams competing this year, India’s entry adds an exciting twist to the competition.
ESFI President Shri Vinod Tiwari expressed his excitement, stating, “India’s participation in OXY 2024 is a significant opportunity for our student players. This tournament will showcase their skills on a global stage and highlight the growth of Indian esports.”
Team India was selected through the National Esports Championship 2024 (NESC24), where Team Avengers emerged victorious. The team consists of Abhishek Yadav (Captain), Dhruv Kohli, Subhadeep Das, Nagaraj, and Manav Kunte. Captain Abhishek Yadav shared his enthusiasm, saying, “We’re thrilled to be the top team in South Asia and to have qualified to compete in Sochi. We’re determined to showcase our talent on the global stage.”
The third edition of OXY offers a prize pool of 5,000,000 Rubles (approximately INR 45 lakhs) for the podium finishers. Huge congratulations to Abhishek and his team, and best of luck as they prepare to represent India on the global stage!
