153How important is Internal security for a nation? India has faced wars and constant insurgency since independence. J&K was turned into a hotbed of terrorism by the neighbouring governments and radical Islamic groups. It took an actively functional NIA under a strong Prime Minister and abrogation of Article 370 to curb the regular insurgency and Kashmiri youth being trained in Pakistan operated terror camps. The recent years see a relatively peaceful Kashmir valley and a flow of tourists to boost the economy of the terror ridden state. Maj. Gen. Arvind Bhatia elaborates on India's Internal Security and dynamics of J&K. A detailed description of the Kashmir Accession story by Col. About The Speakers :
Major General Arvind Bhatia is a third Generation Infantry officer from the KUMAON regiment. With a consistently outstanding officers record of over 37 years in the Army, he has also been an instructor at IMA twice as a platoon commander and Adjutant. He was part of 3 foreign assignments to Bhutan as an instructor, Congo on a UN mission, and Pakistan as a Defense Advisor in our Embassy in Islamabad from April 2015 to September 2017. The officer has served over 12 years in J & K including Siachen Glacier where he commanded his Battalion. He has also been in the Military Operations Directorate, Perspective Planning Directorate, HQ Delhi Area, and HQ IDS in Delhi. He superannuated in 2021.
Col. Ramakrishna during his service in the Indian Army participated in the wars of 1965 and 1971. A Master's in Political Science, combined with a defense background has given him a comprehensive, insightful understanding of national politics and international relations.
