The Indian indices opened higher today despite mixed global cues with Nifty above 23800.

The Sensex was up 244.88 points or 0.31 percent at 78,717.36, and the Nifty was up 68.70 points or 0.29 percent at 23,818.90. About 1763 shares advanced, 648 shares declined, and 125 shares unchanged.

Tata Motors, ICICI Bank, Grasim Industries, Tech Mahindra, NTPC were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Apollo Hospitals, Dr Reddy's Labs, Britannia Industries, HCL Tech and Titan Company.
