Indie Game of the Week - Kingdom
9Sometimes, it's not good to be the King OR Queen for that matter. Why? In Kingdom you have this regal title and everybody will live or die depending your decisions. Spend your precious gold wastefully and you will be missing your crown in no time. No crown, no Kingdom. On the other hand, if you spend your gold wisely, knights, treasure, and glory, awaits you at the edge of the forests in the form of dark portals, spewing evil every night. Overcoming this evil won't be easy but it will be hell of satisfying. Kingdom takes everything about strategy games and deconstructs it in perfect form. Keeping the complexity and difficulty of the genre but making it so simple that anyone could play it. This is what makes the game so fun and extremely addictive, as you learn from your mistakes in the last Kingdom and improve with your next. However, sometimes the fates are just aligned against you as Kingdom does also feature random events and areas. One Kingdom may be blessed with farms nestled neatly by its side and another barren and dry. If the games mechanics and excellent pixel art didn't entice you enough, Kingdom also has many layers of secrets to it. What lies beyond the dark portals is still a mystery to me and I feel like I was constantly discovering something new and hidden in the forest. It's this mystery and exploration tied with the Kingdom management that will take away hours of my life gleefully. Simply put, Kingdom is a fantastic game and worth your attention!
