155Evoland by Shiro Games is an interesting journey through the history of RPGs and their gameplay conventions. We start at the simple Gameboy aesthetic and much in the style of DLC Quest, we unlock new elements one by one, adding to the game little by little. One of the highlights for me was the great variety of game references ranging from Zelda to Dragon Warrior to Final Fantasy and many others. I was very pleasantly surprised by Evoland and it comes as an easy recommendation for me. I have a feeling it's a bit on the short side, but definitely worth your time.
