Infinite Evolved v1.3 is an interesting mod where the combat feels amazing a lot of the time despite the combat design itself being a bit sloppy, and IE also does some other unique things right which deserve to be mentioned; so I have quite a bit to say about this mod in order to describe it properly.

Despite some partial game design inconsistency, this mod still manages to have a very good gameplay flow most of the time, while also providing enough challenge that combat ends up often being fairly intense and engaging. Some of the levels provide you with too many powerful toys to play with which partially trivializes some of the encounter design of those levels; but PoA happens to not be one of those levels and instead puts full focus on normal combat, which I appreciate.

This mod has a solid chunk of visual and audio changes which tend to be quite nicely done. The replaced music tracks brought over from mostly Halo 2 tend to work very well and bring some nice extra liveliness to CE. The changes in weather and time of day in some of the other levels work well too, such as the second level's first half now being a dark foggy rainy environment, which happens to be my absolute favorite thing about IE, since for many years now I've loved the concept of fighting the Covenant in heavy rainy weather.

What I'm not a fan of is the magazine ammo counter being just small numbers in the corner now, as you can't get a subconscious idea with the edge of your vision about how much ammo you have left in the magazine if you use numbers as opposed to rows of ammo sprites; so this change hurts the combat experience.
It's bad in Halo Infinite and it's bad in this mod.
It's tolerable though and doesn't take too much away from combat enjoyment.

IE Legendary feels pretty much on par with Vanilla Legendary when fighting against the Covenant, but IE Flood combat interestingly enough feels like you're playing one whole difficulty level above Legendary. IE Heroic difficulty feels largely the same as Vanilla Legendary when fighting against the Flood, but IE Heroic also makes the Covenant feel just as soft and unengaging as they are on Vanilla Heroic; so if you're looking for consistent difficulty in UNSC+Covenant+Flood combat, unfortunately there is no properly tuned difficulty setting for that in this mod.
Sloppy implementation of some difficulty factors is the biggest thing holding Infinite Evolved back, but overall this mod is great in many ways and provides a bunch of cool and unique twists on CE.

The rest of this video series is linked below, ordered from top to bottom according to my personal ranking of specifically the Legendary PoA gameplay experience quality in each version of CE.

This is a video series where each video is a playthrough of the first level of Halo CE on Legendary difficulty without dying; showcasing a different version of CE each time. The point of this is to have a place to easily compare the infantry combat game design of different versions of CE from a fairly skilled Halo player's perspective.
