In Secret of Mana for the SNES, there's a way to make unlimited money very early on in the game. Some people just call it the Money Glitch.

In this example, we'll be using Neko's Shop which you'll find just before reaching the Water Palace. This trick is easiest if you start with an empty item inventory.

At Neko's Shop, purchase a Candy and a Medical Herb. Then, open your inventory and place your cursor on top of the Medical Herb. Exit your menu and speak to Neko again to sell your Medical Herb and your Candy. Now hit the Y button to cancel out of the Sell menu, then choose to Buy. Hit Y button to cancel again. Now choose Sell once more, and if you've done these steps properly, you should be able to sell any of the items available in Neko's Shop.

You'll notice that all of these items will be labeled as "Blat" which is the cute bat enemy you find in Gaia's Navel. You'll also notice that this Blat item sells for about 30,000 gold. Sell any single item on the ring until the top of the screen no longer says Blat. In other words, sell any single item by a number of times that is divisible by 8.

Now back out and open your inventory. You may have some items in your inventory that you did not purchase. Using any of the items labeled "Blat" or "Trash" will cause your game to crash, and I do not recommend trying this on an SNES console. To get rid of these dangerous and useless items, simply open and close your Item Ring with the Y button numerous times until all of them disappear.

Now, you should have normal-looking menu rings and a ton of money in your pocket!

There are also other weird effects that you can cause with this glitch. At one point, I was able to sell my Status screen from the options menu...
