Skip Forced Encounters in Zelda II - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts
In Zelda II for the Nintendo Entertainment System, there are numerous fixed squares on the overworld that house scripted battles or "forced encounters" as I call them. Stepping on these tiles will place Link in some difficult platforming sections with annoying enemies. However, these forced encounters can easily be skipped using a simple glitch (or exploit I guess).
All you need to do is wait for overworld enemies to spawn, then step on the "forced encounter" tile at the same moment that Link is touched by a "random" overworld enemy. The easiest way to do this is to wait until an overworld enemy is right on top of the forced encounter square, then walk into it.
If you did it right, Link will be placed in a normal, everyday random battle instead of the forced encounter, and these random battles are generally much easier and shorter than the forced ones. Now, complete the random battle, and you will be placed back on the overworld on top of the forced encounter square, and you can walk right over it and go on your merry way.
