In this video, I take a fascinating journey into the world of infrared thermography using the Optris Xi 400 thermal camera and my mobile phone, with a series of indoor and outdoor experiments that reveal the invisible heat signatures around us. https://youtube.com/shorts/eKybiBoTqQs

🔥Indoor Testing: First, I explore the thermal dynamics of a kitchen stove. Watch as the flames, heat, and rising fumes are vividly captured through the infrared lens, showcasing the camera’s ability to visualize thermal energy in real-time.

☀️🔍Outdoor Testing: Next, I head outdoors to harness the power of the sun using a magnifying glass. By focusing sunlight onto a piece of cardboard, I demonstrate how the Xi 400 can measure extreme temperatures. Initially, we use the scale up to 250°C but quickly switch to the extended scale up to 900°C as the focal point of the magnifying glass generates temperatures exceeding 600°C, with some peaks even higher.

Exploring the World of Infrared with the mazing Optris Xi 400, I’m discovering a whole new way of seeing the world. This incredible infrared camera captures the heat emitted by objects and translates it into detailed thermal images. It's like having a superpower that lets me visualize temperature differences that are invisible to the naked eye.

Thermal Measurement in Action: Using infrared thermography, I'm learning about its practical applications in everyday settings and specialized scenarios. For example, it’s perfect for fire prevention, where detecting hot spots can prevent disasters. In industrial monitoring, it helps ensure equipment is functioning correctly by spotting anomalies early.

Technology Insights: What makes the Xi 400 so impressive are its advanced features. It offers high-resolution imaging with 382 x 288 pixels, providing incredibly detailed thermal images. The camera covers a broad temperature range from -20°C to 900°C, and there’s even an optional range extending up to 1500°C for extreme conditions. Its compact and rugged design, combined with motorized focus, ensures it can handle various environments. The fast 80 Hz frame rate is perfect for capturing rapid thermal processes, and the versatile PIX Connect software included makes image processing and analysis a breeze.
