Insertion (DOOM II WAD) - Gameplay (w/ commentary)
An 11-level episode created by a group of four, most of which had done maps for the Memento Mori series or Requiem, so the levels share similar gameplay and design to those found there. The story is yet another one taking place after Doom 2, where the Doom marine is declining medication that helps him rest as he is convinced he can do so himself, and wanting to be alert to the demons should they come again. All he knows is that all available soldiers were for mobilized for a clean-up mission in some kind of rehabilation center, involving some more Hellspawn being left behind after what was thought as the final confrontation. With those hell gates slowly being closed off, the UAC has a plan to set off nuclear weapons to ensure destruction of the gates, however this would render Earth inhabitable, so there was another plan called "INSERTION", the strategic implementation of the elite fighting force to neutralize the final hellions. After thinking about this, Doomguy falls asleep. The next morning, Doomguy learns that the military forces of the INSERTION operation were annihilated, so, having been reassigned to active duty, it is up to Doomguy to clean up the base of the demon forces himself, and eventually find the switch that will stop it once again.
Still a good length for 11 levels, many felt short but yeah this took a while to do, even after a few breaks. If you loved Memento Mori or Requiem then you'll love this one too.
