Installing Open RA2 (Red Alert 2) Developer Version on Windows 10
Looks like my favourite childhood game is being worked on as an open source project. EA hasn't completely released Red Alert 2 as freeware like they did with Red Alert 1 however the copyright is likely to exceed 20 years soon. Thus an old RA2 disc or C&C the First Decade is required for installation. I instruct on converting an old CD/DVD into an .iso so it can be taken to any computer you want and then I instruct installing the developer version of RA2. It is still buggy, sometimes the ground doesn't show, the GI's don't deploy, the aircraft fly a wee bit funny, the anti-aircraft weapons seem to miss by a mile off but it's still worth to play for the nostalgia. It'll be absolutely amazing when it's complete. Get OpenRA2 from here: https://github.com/OpenRA/ra2/wiki
Also install OpenRA (Red Alert 1 and C&C1) from here:
https://www.openra.net/download/
It is a much improved Red Alert 1, working on modern hardware, with build queues and the units fire power have been balanced out far better than back in 1995! Because RA1 and C&C1 are now freeware there is no need for an original disc.
