Abstract: With the increasing availability of data and advancements in statistical tools, the insurance industry is eagerly seeking students capable of performing data analysis and developing business solutions. To meet this growing demand, many universities and institutions are innovating their actuarial science programs. This trend has led us to develop two types of experiential learning courses that integrate real-world data: a case study with actuarial professionals and an actuarial science senior capstone. In this talk, we provide two specific examples and methodologies. Then we discuss the challenges faced along with recommendations derived from these project experiences.
