Intel Play Me2Cam Virtual Game System Review & Teardown
I was thrifting in Waterloo and decided to hit up Orion Computers to see what the shop looks like these days. About 15 years ago my friend pointed me to the store when I asked him if he ever knew any cheap dive-ish PC store. I was looking for the type of place where you could go through a box of CPUs. But to my surprise the store had cleaned up quite well, quite a bit! Bit its still a great place. I managed to find this original 20 year old camera.
This thing was clearly only on the shelf to fill space, but I just had to have it! Move your body to play fun Virtual games. www.intelplay.com. I think this might be the first time that Mattel got hard into the tech world. Bouble Trouble, Go To Club Tune, Snow Surfin'! Play Body Pinball

The Intel Play product line, developed and jointly marketed by Intel and Mattel, was a product line of consumer "toy" electronic devices. The other toys were the Digital Movie Creator, the Computer Sound Morpher, and the Me2Cam.[1][2]
The Intel Play product line was discontinued on March 29, 2002 when it was purchased by Tim Hall's holding company Prime Entertainment. Hall founded Digital Blue, which continue the Intel Play product line under the Digital Blue brand.[2] The "Play" logo of Intel Play became a staple of 2K Play in 2007.
With this inexpensive video camera and CD-ROM set, children can morph inside a video game to become the player in five virtual environments. By mounting the video camera on the top of your computer monitor, the camera takes videos of your child moving in front of the computer and transposes those images onto the computer screen. The child’s image becomes the cursor, and the player controls the video-image by simply moving in front of the camera. For example, in one of the environments, as children step in front of the camera, they immediately see themselves snowboarding down a mountain slope. If they lean to the left, their cursor-image will go to the left. Children need to steer with their bodies to miss obstacles like moguls or trees!!
