Opening cinematic from the Interactive Legal Drama, In the 1st Degree, released in 1995 for Windows 3.1/95 computers. It was a notable departure for Brøderbund, who had been known for mostly adventure games such as Myst or Prince of Persia, and the first in their catalogue to address 'human' drama and film-making simultaneously. Brøderbund wanted to ensure authenticity, and retained San Francisco assistant District Attorney Al Giannini as a legal consultant both during script writing and during filming/production.

In the 1st Degree was well-received by critics, and went on to win multiple awards, with reviews praising both the scripting, authenticity, and "generally good acting." It was runner-up to Phantasmagoria for Best FMV Game of the Year in Computer Game Review magazine. Later in 1995, it was adapted into a best-selling novel of the same name
