SWR is a 1998 grand strategy game developed by Coolhand Interactive and published by LucasArts. In the game, the player takes the side of the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance and manages the popular support, facilities, resource production, garrisons, and defenses of dozens to hundreds of individual planets across numerous sectors. The player also handles the locations and activities of dozens of unique characters and a limitless number of specialized units such as recon teams, saboteurs, and so on. The player builds and commands fleets of potentially dozens of capital ships and thousands of starfighters in vaguely Homeworld-style battles. Orbital bombardments may be conducted, even up to the level of destroying planets with a player-build Death Star. It's a game of dizzying depth which I feel has stood the test of time, despite its poor interface.
