The problem with buying laptops sometimes is that sometimes it might have certain features you want, but then it might also not have certain features you want, then it becomes an issue of compromise where you’ll have to decide if you can live without said features or if you need to look for an alternative.

The good news is that if you love customizability, then you might want to take a look at Framework’s latest Chromebook, the Framework Laptop Chromebook Edition, a laptop that features a modular design to let users customize it to suit their needs, up to a certain degree, of course.

How Framework has achieved this modularity is through the creation of what the company calls “Expansion Cards”. This basically allows users to add or remove or swap out ports when necessary. This includes USB-A, USB-C, microSD, HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet, and high-speed storage. The company also says that there will be more Expansion Cards available later.

As for the laptop’s actual specs, we’re looking at a 13.5-inch 2,256×1,504 display, a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1240P processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM that can be configured up to 64GB, 256GB of NVMe storage that can be upgraded to 1TB, and it will also feature a Titan C security chip. It’s an interesting laptop for sure and if modularity and Chrome OS is what you need, then head on over to Framework’s website where you can pre-order it for $999
