Wanting to dominate others is an impulse. That is a guidance tool. Are you its slave, or you simply let it flow in its way. Automatic pilot may not always provide you with the best decisions, although it's a good guidance system. But as is with all guidance systems, it is a matter of choice whether you follow that or use patience and other owned resources (of mind and emotion) to reach a decision, and therefore act according to it. Action is still better than stagnation. Yet conscious action is better than unconscious one, right? Responsibility lies in awareness, so is one's salvation.
