From developers Quintet and Kamui. What's that you say, Quintet as in Actraiser and Illusion of Gaia, Quintet? The very same, and this is the last game the studio developed. Can't find any info on Kamui, I'm guessing they handled the VN-style cutscenes.

I can't believe how gorgeous this game is. Every area you walk through gives the impression of guiding the characters through a beautiful watercolor painting. The lighting and shadow effects through the trees is a great visual touch as well. The character models are cute and handle the transition from 2D to 3D really gracefully by going for a simplified approach, and the 2D portraits are of the same high quality as the anime itself.

I wouldn't recommend playing this without watching the anime, this game is probably really confusing otherwise. Sounds like all the original VAs from the show, but the delivery isn't quite up to the anime's standard, Kagome in particular sounds kinda flat in these early moments, and I remember one moment where Kagome clearly delivered one of Kaname's lines. It's unintentionally funny too, sometimes the characters will be so short with each other it's easy to read an snarky sub-conversation. The characters are all jerks to each other overtly too, constantly bickering and fighting and it does get pretty old fast. There's a little weirdness that comes from being able to choose what gender character you pick at the beginning, the rest of the cast flips flops all over the place calling us every pronoun in the book.
