Settings -/ Calendar -/ Default Alert Times
A walk through of how to set the default alert time on your iOS device's calendar. Either no alert time as default, at time of event, several default increments (5, 10, 15, 30 minute; 1, 2 hour; 1, 2 day), or custom. The alert time is what shows up as notification banners, or whatever method you have set for notifications in you device so that you know about an event in your calendar, whether it's a meeting, a birthday, or some other event occurring on that day.
