The American Academy of Pediatrics (www.AAP.org) says "no screen time before age 2." They consider all screens -- both interactive and non-interactive -- to fall into the same category. I don't think this is accurate. Interactive screens foster feelings of control and promote active, exploration. Note: I don't endorse these apps and, by including the chimp footage, don't mean to make any associations between children and animals. This is a merely a mashup of footage I found.
