8iPad Pro 2024 update: The long-rumoured OLED iPad is finally here.
The new 11 and 13in iPad Pros both feature “Ultra Retina XDR” OLED displays, which Apple claims can sustain 1,000 nits brightness, peaking at 1,600 nits for HDR.
The iPads are also slim - very slim. The 11in Pro is just 5.3mm thick, while the 13in is even skinnier at 5.1mm; that’s thinner than an iPod Nano.
Skipping the M3 chipset, the Pros debut Apple’s M4 chip. The M4 reportedly delivers up to 50% better CPU performance and 4x the GPU performance of the previous iPad Pro’s M2 chip. That extra power should enable mesh shading and ray tracing on iPad for the first time.
Apple has doubled the storage of the base model, now starting at 256GB. The downside, however, of that is that there’s nolonger a cheaper 128GB model, so the 11in now starts at £999 and the 13in at £1,299.
