iPadOS 18: Native Calculator, Math Notes, SmartScript, AI
After 14 years, Apple finally introduces a native calculator app for iPad with iPadOS 18! This new app supports Apple Pencil for Math Notes, allowing you to write complex equations and get real-time solutions. You can even use variables and update results instantly. All these Math Notes features are integrated into the Notes app, enhancing your note-taking experience.
Additionally, Notes app now features SmartScript, which uses machine learning to refine your handwriting, making it more legible while retaining the handwritten style.
iPadOS 18 also brings a new floating tab bar that provides shortcuts and morphs into a sidebar for easier navigation. This feature is available as an API for developers to create contextual menus and streamline app navigation.
Personalization options for the home screen and apps, an updated Photos app from iOS 18, and Apple Intelligence are also part of this update. Apple's AI features include notification prioritization, information summarization, image creation, and an enhanced Siri assistant.
