You do get caught up in the moment, keep in mind these are live as the race runs. Couldn't catch a break today to save my life. Had I driven to my potential it wouldn't have mattered anyways, all me, not the traffic.
Heads up racing : I drove the McLaren in this series when it was introduced last season, I know what it's like to be the slow car in traffic. Sometimes you have to realize the car you are racing is 10 seconds up the road and you dont have the pace and time to catch him and just let a faster car go.
Even when in your own race, sometimes you need to just back off and fall in line and save EVERYONE time so you don't get passed.
You have to be conscious of what messages you send to the cars behind. If you miss a corner, you missed the corner. If you are racing someone, chances are that corner is where you lose a spot. If you start going left, don't go back right.
You don't have to jump out of my way, you simply have to pay attention to what is going on.
If I'm behind you, don't brake 50m early and expect me to go by - there is a reason I'm not looking - because I'm not even close. I'll drive my own car, thank you very much.
Sometimes you need to notice that when you cut infront of someone in a high speed braking zone with a damaged car you cause the guy behind to freak the fudge out. Easily could have just taken a tight line through there, not cost me half a second and one near heart attack.
Traffic effects everyone, on both sides of the fence, today it just happened to be my day to get pooped on. Just as my race was boned by traffic, I'm sure someone else was as well. Sometimes you are the the lion, sometimes the food.
