Harry gets abducted by Dumbledore to impress an ex-professor so that said professor rejoins Dumbledore at Hogwarts to teach the potions class. This is actually a ploy to gain access to some of his memories as we will see later. Dumbledore knows that Slughorn (the professor) rejoices at every opportunity to teach for an impactful witch or wizard and THE Harry Potter is of course no exception
