Age of Calamity, the prequel to Breath of the Wild, has become a big subject of discussion since its release. Today we'll compare their timelines, and see if they align properly for canon.

Breath of the Wild was a soft reboot for the Zelda timeline. Taking place so far in the future that the previous games hardly mattered any more, it fixed the timeline very smoothly. Then Age of Calamity came along. This spin-off title looked like it would portray the events of the Calamity 100 years before Breath of the Wild, but now that it clearly diverges from that path, how much else has changed? Is the game even canon? In the first episode of Interpreting the Timeline, I'll do my best to explain Age of Calamity's alternate world and how it relates to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
