Dark Souls 3 - Is it worth buying in 2017?

So, DS3 was released in April 2016, making it just over 1 year old as of making this video.
So the question is, is this game still worth buying? By the way, the footage you will see in the background is from the first and possibly second area, I don’t intend to spoil the game, so what I’ll be talking about is just basic lore and what you’re doing in the game.

First of all, what even is Dark Souls? Well, if you haven't heard about it yet, you're either new to the gaming community or you've been living under a rock for the past few years. But basically the entire Dark Souls franchise are these very difficult games that does not hold your hand per se. The game is completely open for you to explore and discover new things.
So, what makes this game so special? Considering how many open world RPGs there are out there at the moment. Well first of all the combat in this game is truly amazing in many ways. The number one reason I like the combat so much is because it's very skill based, everything you manage to kill is because you're good at the game, and if, well when, you die the only one you can blame is yourself. The essence of the combat is to learn your opponent's attack patterns, and by learning that you know how to take them down. There are so many different enemies which all have their own patterns that you have to learn and analyse pretty much while they are attacking you! It's amazing!
Another thing directly connected to the combat is the weapon variety. Dark Souls 3 does many things right, weapon variety is definitely one of them. There are so many fun and interesting weapons in this game, and most of them are perfectly viable to use even in the later parts of the game. I mean if you look for ‘the best weapon in Dark Souls 3’ on forums you will get so many different answers, I think that proves how good the variety is. The most important thing is to pick a weapon that you like, one that has the balance between damage, speed, weight, looks etc. that fits you. A rule of thumb in this game is that the equipment/weapons that you’re using are rarely the factor that causes you to die. Which are the results of having a skill based game.
