Is Sin from Final Fantasy X a Giant Nuke?
In this video I talk about the role of allegory and the limits of allegory in JRPGs, as a small part of an on-going research project. The example taken references Sin from Final Fantasy X and the question of whether Sin is a part of an allegory on the part of the developers of the game.
The video is based on a short presentation I did at this year's Replaying Japan, which is an academic conference dedicated to the study of Japanese games and gaming culture. I got a lot of great feedback from fellow scholars during the conference, but now I turn to all of you because there is a deep pool of knowledge that exists within the JRPG and Final Fantasy fandom, consisting of players that have not only played such games extensively but also spent a lot time analysing their experiences.
Looking forward to engaging with you down in the comments and I hope you like the video!
